Visionary Mike Florance laid the groundwork for a revolutionary golf club without borders, where kindred spirits could unite monthly to share camaraderie and make a difference in their community. This pioneering concept ignited a movement, sparking the formation of the Transvaal Nomads Club (now Gauteng Nomads) in 1960, followed by Natal in 1963 and Western Province in 1965. The flame spread rapidly, illuminating the country and beyond, with twelve clubs now thriving in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe, and one each in Botswana, Swaziland, and New Zealand, as well as four in Australia.
Nomads is built on three unshakeable pillars:

  • Uniting with like-minded golf enthusiasts once a month, forging unbreakable bonds and memories.
  • Empowering those in need through the Nomads National Andrew Mentis Endowment Fund, leaving a lasting impact.
  • Fostering the growth of golf, supporting junior, ladies, and disabled golfers, as well as clubs in need, to ensure the game’s bright future.”
